Die UWS blickt auf eine 110-jährige Traditon zurück - und gehört heute mit 35.000 Studierenden zu den größten und innovativsten Unis des Landes. Die Studierenden sollen Lernprozesse aktiv mitgestalten und die gelernten Theorien praktisch anwenden. Pro Campus kommen nicht mehr als 6.000 Studierende zusammen - so sorgt die Uni trotz ihrer Größe für kleine Seminargruppen und eine persönliche Atmosphäre zwischen Studierenden und Dozenten.
Zum Studienangebot an der UWS zählen Bachelor-, Master- und PhD-Programme in über 100 Fachgebieten. Flexibilität ist hier Trumpf: Im Rahmen eines Bachelor- oder Masterstudiums können auch über Fächergrenzen hinweg Kurse besucht werden. Spezielle Studienprogramme wie Agrarwissenschaft und Gartenbau, Luftfahrt, sowie unterschiedliche Schwerpunkte im Bereich der Ingenieurwissenschaften sind ebenfalls Teil des breiten Fächerangebots. Erste Einblicke in den australischen Arbeitsalltag können internationale Studenten im Rahmen eines Auslandssemesters an der UWS gewinnen: So kann ein Teilzeitpraktikum in einem Unternehmen mit zwei bis drei akademischen Kursen an der Universität kombiniert werden. Die Vermittlung des Praktikumsplatzes erfolgt nach Absprache mit den Studenten und berücksichtigt Studienrichtung sowie persönliche Interessen.

Die sechs Campi der University of Western Sydney befinden sich im Westen von Sydney. Die modern ausgestatteten Gebäudekomplexe liegen in Sydneys Vorortgebieten und bieten einen Mix aus Natur und städtischem Flair.
