Studierende an der University of South Australia (UniSA)

erwerben wertvolle praktische Fähigkeiten und persönliche Erfahrungen, die den Einstieg in das Berufsleben erleichtern. Denn dass Theorien nicht nur gelehrt, sondern auch in die Praxis umgesetzt werden, gehört zum Unterrichtskonzept der UniSA. So erhalten die meisten Studierenden die Möglichkeit, außerhalb des Hörsaals Einblicke in einen realen Arbeitsalltag zu gewinnen: Vor Ort Fossilien untersuchen, Versuche im Labor, Praktikum im Kindergarten oder die Kultur der Aboriginies studieren - in Abhängigkeit vom Studiengang werden passende Exkursionen unternommen.

Die UniSA bietet über 300 Studiengänge

im Bachelor- und Masterbereich an, darunter zum Beispiel Architektur und Design, Pädagogik, Kommunikation und Medien, Zivilluftfahrt, Bauingenieurwesen, Marketing, Betriebswirtschaft, Informationstechnologie, Ingenieurwesen, Gesundheitswissenschaften, Stadtplanung, Bildende und Angewandte Kunst, Grafikdesign und Psychologie. Ein besonders Merkmal: Die Universität bietet gerade im Bereich Gesundheitswissenschaften viele Spezialisierungsmöglichkeiten - in South Australia ist sie etwa die einzige Hochschule, die Angebote im Bereich Ergotherapie, Pharmazie und Physiotherapie hat.

Die Abschlüsse der Wirtschaftsfakultät

sind von der European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) akkreditiert. Dazu gehört beispielsweise der Master of Business Administration (MBA), der auch als Fernstudium angeboten wird, und der Master of International Business (MIB). Der Studienstart der wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Masterprogramme der UniSA ist flexibel angelegt und nicht auf den regulären Semesterbeginn im Februar oder Juli begrenzt.

Die UniSA ist zudem eine der ältesten Kunsthochschulen Australiens:

Die South Australia School of Art wurde bereits 1856 gegründet. Mittlerweile kann man im Bachelor of Design natürlich auch Schwerpunkte im Bereich Product Innovation oder Visual Communication setzen.

Gelehrt wird an fünf verschiedenen Standorten

in und um Adelaide. Die Campi City West und City East liegen im Stadtzentrum; der Magill Campus befindet sich acht Kilometer außerhalb Adelaides; der Mawson Lakes Campus ist etwa 20 Autominuten nördlich der Stadt gelegen. Ein fünfter Standort der UniSA befindet sich etwa 400 Kilometer nordwestlich von Adelaide im Küstenort Whyalla im ländlichen South Australia.

Adelaide ist mit einer entspannten Atmosphäre,

schönen Stränden und einem mediterranen Klima ein attraktiver Studienort. Alljährlich finden mehrere große Kulturfeste statt - denn nicht umsonst trägt South Australia den Beinamen The Festival State. Die Lebenshaltungskosten fallen in Adelaide im Gegensatz zu anderen Großstädten des Landes geringer aus.

Unterkunft

1. On-Campus Housing:

hier stehen nur den Studierenden am Whyalla Campus Möglichkeiten zur Verfügung. Für die Campi in Adelaide gibt es Residential Colleges. Sie liegen nur eine kurze Strecke von beiden Campus entfernt. Diese sind sehr beliebt bei Studierenden, da sie hier einzigartige Gemeinschaft erleben. Die Zimmer sind meist Einzelzimmer im Dorm mit Gemeinschaftsbad. Sie sind vor allem für Studierende gedacht, die das erste Mal alleine wohnen. Deshalb gibt es hier auch viele Regeln die für Studierende im höheren Semester vielleicht nicht mehr sinnvoll sind.

Krankenversicherung

Alle Studierenden müssen während des gesamten Studienaufenthalts krankenversichert sein. Das Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) deckt hier die Krankenversicherung für internationale Studierende ab und ist eine Voraussetzung für das Studentenvisum. Studierende der UniSA werden mit dem OSHC Worldcare der Allianz versichert. Für internationale Full-Fee Paying Students ist die Versicherungssumme bereits in den Studiengebühren enthalten, und die Universität kümmert sich um die Versicherung sobald die Bewerbungsgebühren und die Versicherungssumme für OSHC bezahlt wurden. Bei der Bewerbung für das Studentenvisum muss bereits ein OSHC vorgewiesen werden. Eine Auslandskrankenversicherung kann in keinem Fall vom OSHC befreien.
