Die Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) bietet die einmalige Gelegenheit, in Neuseelands politischer und kultureller Hauptstadt zu studieren und zu leben. Die Universität ist bekannt für ihre hervorragende Lehre und zählt zu den führenden Forschungseinrichtungen des Landes. Das Victoria International Leadership Programme bietet Studierenden die Möglichkeit, neben dem theoretischen Teil des Studiums auch praktische Erfahrungen in Feldstudien oder im Rahmen eines Betriebspraktikums zu sammeln. Besonders beliebt sind neben den naturwissenschaftlichen Studiengängen Programme im Bereich Sozialwissenschaften, sowie Architektur und Design.
Mehr als 100 verschiedene Bachelor- und über 220 Aufbaustudiengänge werden an der VUW angeboten. Einen besonders guten Ruf haben die Fachbereiche Jura, Musik, Politik, Management, Volkswirtschaftslehre, Architektur und Design, Geowissenschaften, Materialwissenschaften, Psychologie, Film und Theater, Linguistik, Informatik und Biowissenschaften. Das große Kursangebot ermöglicht den Studierenden, ihre individuellen Interessen bei der Zusammenstellung des Stundenplans zu berücksichtigen.

Die Lage in der Hauptstadt bietet Vorteile. So profitieren viele Studenten davon, dass die aktuelle Politik quasi "vor der Tür" stattfindet. Wer für Jura, Journalismus oder Politikwissenschaft eingeschrieben ist, kann deshalb leicht relevante Kontakte knüpfen und das aktuelle Geschehen direkt verfolgen.
Gelehrt wird an vier verschiedenen Campi, wovon drei zentral und in Fußnähe zueinander liegen. Der Hauptcampus Kelburn liegt auf einer Anhöhe in der Stadt und bietet schöne Ausblicke auf den Hafen und die Küste. Der Fachbereich Jura ist im historischen Regierungsgebäude auf dem Pipitea Campus untergebracht und liegt in direkter Nähe zum neuen Parlament und dem obersten Gerichtshof. Das Institut für Architektur und Design (Te Aro Campus) befindet sich im Herzen der Stadt umgeben von Cafés und Galerien. Die Lehramtsstudenten werden auf dem Karori Campus unterrichtet, der etwa vier Kilometer vom Hauptcampus entfernt liegt.
Wellington bietet jede Menge Abwechslung. Zahlreiche gemütliche Cafés, Kneipen und Restaurants mit Speisen aus aller Welt sorgen für das leibliche Wohl. Sportfans haben die Wahl zwischen zahlreichen Aktivitäten in direkter Umgebung, wie Wassersport, Wandern oder Angeln. Und auch die Skigebiete liegen nur etwa vier Autostunden entfernt. Wer sich für Kultur interessiert findet in Wellington ein reiches Angebot: Die größten Museen des Landes befinden sich in der Hauptstadt. Und kulturelle Festivals wie das New Zealand International Festival of the Arts und das International Film Festival werden regelmäßig veranstaltet. Mehrere Theaterbühnen und Galerien runden das Angebot ab.
