International angesehen ist die Newcastle University (NCL) für ihre hochwertige Lehre und innovative Forschung. Auch die Studierenden sind zufrieden: Im National Student Survey 2009 gaben 87 Prozent der Alumni ihrer ehemaligen Universität die Bestnote - damit schnitt die Universität deutlich besser ab als andere britische Universitäten im Landesdurchschnitt. Im International Student Barometer Survey, das insgesamt 67.000 Studierende aus 221 Ländern befragte, schnitt die Universität in Punkto Studentenzufriedenheit sogar auf dem siebten Platz weltweit ab.
Das Fächerangebot der NCL erstreckt sich auf die Bereiche Kunst, Sozial- und Geisteswissenschaften, Naturwissenschaften, Gesundheitswissenschaften, Jura, Wirtschaftswissenschaften und Ingenieurwesen. Neben den drei bis vierjährigen Bachelorabschlüssen werden auch einjährige Masterstudiengänge und mehrjährige PhD Programme angeboten.

Insbesondere Gesundheitswissenschaftler finden hier ein gutes Studienumfeld vor. 2009 wurde der Uni der wichtige Queens Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education im Bereich der Gesundheitswissenschaften (Aging and Health) verliehen. Die Newcastle University gehört auf diesem Gebiet zu den führenden Universitäten weltweit.
Ein angenehmes, förderendes Studienumfeld wird Studenten an der Newcastle University geboten. Der Campus liegt optimal direkt in der studentisch geprägten, lebendigen Stadt Newcastle. Die Bibliothek der Uni ist bereits mehrfach für ihre Benutzerfreundlichkeit ausgezeichnet worden, ebenso der Career Service, der zu den Besten des Landes zählt. Die Lebenshaltungskosten in Newcastle sind im Vergleich zu anderen britischen Städten relativ günstig.
