"Get Smarter" steht auf den Kaffeetassen und T-Shirts der Griffith University im australischen Queensland - ein Motto, das hier in jeder Hinsicht ernst genommen wird. Es gilt nicht nur für die fast 38.000 Studierenden, die sich auf fünf Campi in der wunderschönen, subtropisch-sonnigen Region um Brisbane und die Gold Coast verteilen und dort während ihres Studiums schlauer werden. Dieses Motto hat sich die Universität auch selbst zur Aufforderung genommen und ist ständig in Bewegung, um ihren Studierenden in Lehre und Forschung die bestmögliche Ausbildung bieten zu können.
Die Griffith University war die erste Universität Australiens, an der beispielsweise Studiengänge in Umweltwissenschaften, Multimedia, Marketing und Asienwissenschaften angeboten wurden. Studenten, die Praxiserfahrungen im Ausland sammeln möchten, können an der Griffith University ein Auslandssemester mit einem Teilzeitpraktikum kombinieren. Dieses Angebot gilt für Studenten der Fachbereiche Kunst, Pädagogik, Jura, Wirtschaft, Gesundheitswesen und Naturwissenschaften. Für Wirtschaftsstudenten gibt es außerdem verschiedene weitere Praktikumsangebote, die unter dem Namen Global Action Program (GAP) zusammengefasst sind. Eine weitere interessante Möglichkeit sind sechswöchige Kurzpraktika vor oder nach einem Studienaufenthalt an der Griffith University. "Getting Smarter" sollte hier nicht schwer fallen.

Bemerkenswert sind die Universitätsgebäude und deren Equipment, wie die neu ausgestatteten Labore der Naturwissenschaftler, die Ateliers, Fotolabore und Computersäle des Queensland College of Art, das Ecocentre der Umweltwissenschaftler, das Forschung im Bereich der nachhaltigen Energiewirtschaft ermöglicht und das im Jahr 2005 neu eröffnete Centre for Medicine and Oral Health.
