Bachelor, Master, PhD oder Auslandssemester:
5 Fakultäten bieten an der Deakin University interessante Studiengänge in den Bereichen Geisteswissenschaften, Sozial- und Gesellschaftswissenschaften, Wirtschaftswissenschaften, Jura, Erziehungswissenschaften, Gesundheitswissenschaften, Naturwissenschaften sowie Ingenieurwesen und IT an.
Insbesondere Sozialwissenschaftler und Biomediziner
sollten sich die Universität einmal näher anschauen: Laut dem Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2009 gehören die Studienbereiche Sozialwissenschaften sowie die Lebenswissenschaften (Biomedizin) an der Deakin University zu den besten Top 15 bzw. Top 20 in Australien.
Für eine Kombination aus Praktikum und Auslandsstudium
können sich Studierende ab dem dritten Studienjahr an der Deakin University bewerben. Während des Semesters verbringen sie ein Viertel ihrer Zeit in einem Unternehmen und den Rest der Zeit an der Universität. Das Angebot gilt für die Studienbereiche Wirtschaft, Politik, Öffentlichkeitsarbeit, Journalismus, Medien und Kommunikation, Umweltwissenschaften, Darstellende Kunst (Tanz und Schauspiel), Grafikdesign, Medienkunst (Film und Fotografie), Bildende Kunst, Sozialarbeit und Soziologie.
In Melbourne befinden sich zwei Campusanlagen
der Deakin University und drei weitere Campi sind in den Küstenstädten Geelong (Waterfront und Waurn Ponds) und Warrnambool gelegen. Der Melbourne Campus at Burwood liegt am zentralsten, in knapp 45 Minuten ist man mit der U-Bahn in der City. Melbourne ist ein wichtiges kulturelles Zentrum und bei Studierenden aus alles Welt sehr beliebt. Viele Museen und Märkte, Restaurants und Cafés, sowie die Lage am Meer prägen das Stadtbild. Auch Konzertliebhaber und Sportfans kommen in Melbourne auf ihre Kosten.

Krankenversicherung
Alle Studierenden müssen während des gesamten Studienaufenthalts krankenversichert sein. Das Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) deckt hier die Krankenversicherung für internationale Studierende ab und ist eine Voraussetzung für das Studentenvisum. Studierende der Deakin können unter mehreren OSHC Anbietern wählen, die die Universität vorschlägt: BUPA Australia OSHC, OSHC Worldcare, Medibank Private, Australian Health Management OSHC. Studierende müssen für die gesamte Visadauer damit versichert sein. Die Universität organisiert für die Studierenden, die ihre OSHC-Gebühr mit den Studiengebühren zusammen bezahlen, die Versicherung über BUPA Australia OSHC. Bei der Bewerbung für das Studentenvisum muss bereits ein OSHC vorgewiesen werden. Eine Auslandskrankenversicherung kann in keinem Fall vom OSHC befreien.
